Useful Information
- Parking at the viewing area is free.
- There is no drinking water or bathrooms available on the trail.
- Leashed pets are allowed.
- The trail is open year-round but the falls are ice in the winter months.
- An optional steep trail exists to reach the base of the falls.
Directions
To reach Bridal Veil Falls, start your journey in Spearfish, South Dakota, and take West Jackson Boulevard (Highway 14A) until you reach the stoplight marking the intersection of US-85 S/N Main St and US-14A E marking the beginning of Spearfish Canyon. Turn onto US-14A E and continue for approximately 7 miles. Bridal Veil Falls parking will be on the right side of the road with the falls viewing area being clearly visible on the left side of the road.
The Trail
Bridal Veil Falls has designated parking to allow for stopping to walk for a closer look of the falls. There is no elevation change and the distance is as short as crossing the highway. It’s rare to see any animals near the falls due to the large amount of visitors they receive.
A wooden viewing area has been built to create a convenient place to take photos and read plaques containing information about the falls. A steep trail exists on the side of the deck that crosses the creek to reach the base of the falls. This trail is not maintained and is very steep and slippery.
Bridal Veil Falls freezes over and stops flowing during the winter months. Spring brings the falls back to life due to the excess water from the melting snow. This transitions into a slower flow during the summer months once the excess water is no longer present.
